Although the minimum makeup approach does not leave you nude, it does maintain a natural appearance. A nude makeup technique will provide just enough definition to highlight your features by using colour shades that are slightly lighter and darker than your skin tone.
This barely-there appearance is subtle and attractive when done correctly. But don’t be fooled by the subtlety into thinking it won’t take some work. We’ve broken down the stages for achieving a beautiful nude makeup look in the tutorial below.
Prime Eyelids:
Begin by prepping your upper and lower eyelids. This will bring out the hues in your eyeshadow and keep your makeup looking fresh all day. We’re using Urban Decay Eye Primer for this look.
Eyeshadow Base:
Cover your entire eyelid with a base coat of an eyeshadow that nearly matches or is slightly lighter than your skin tone to create a clean canvas. With the Morphe 350M Nature Glow Matte Eyeshadow Palette, we used a Wet ‘n Wild Blending Brush.
Define The Eyelid Crease:
Define the crease of your eyelid with a nude eyeshadow tone. Begin by adding shadow to the crease, then blending it out and up. Rep the procedure till the crease is well defined. We’re going to use the same brush and eyeshadow palette as before.
Lower Eyelid:
Apply eyeshadow on the lower lid between the lash line and the crease with a nude hue that’s two or three shades darker to enhance your makeup. To produce a smooth transition, blend up into the crease. We utilised the same Morphe 350M Palette as before, however this time we used the UD Pro flat eyeshadow brush from Urban Decay.
Lower Lash Line:
Apply the same colour you used in the previous step along your lower lash line using your flat eyeshadow brush.
Mascara:
Use a black mascara to define your lashes, like Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara, which we’re using here.
False Eyelashes:
Use artificial lashes to bring attention to your eyes even more.
Line Lips:
Switch to your lips and line the corners with a warm nude hue like the Kylie Cosmetics Pencil Lip Liner in Hazel we’re wearing.
Lipstick:
Fill in your lips with a colour that matches your liner. Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick in Hazel was utilised.
Lip Gloss:
Lip gloss adds a lustrous sheen to your lips. The colour Gilded from Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss is used here.
Isn’t this bare-faced makeup look gorgeous? The contrast between the matte finish on your eyelids and the high gloss on your lips lends dimension to your look and adds attention. Even if it appears natural, it does not appear to be monotonous.
It’s a great look for the day. However, it appears to be appropriate for a night out.
